"The Congress run central government has been paralysed. They are doing only Akashwani": Narendra Modi in Ranchi Rally.

Rahul Gandhi only coming out with "akashwani" : Narendra Modi at Ranchi rally
PTI | Ranchi | Dec 29, 2013:: BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi Sunday targeted Rahul Gandhi yet again, saying while nothing is being done to check price rise and corruption, the Congress leader has been only coming out with "akashwani" (celestial voices).

Modi's made these remarks at the rally apparently referring to Congress Vice-President's meeting with Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states in Delhi on Friday during which he asked them to check prices and implement the Lokayukta Act on the lines of Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill.

Gandhi had disapproved of the Maharashtra government's decision to reject the Adarsh Commission's report on the society building scam.

"In ancient times, people heard akashwani (celestial voices) that came as if they (voices) were not concerned about the happenings around....Today, there is akashwani that CMs will do this, CMs will do that. People who are involved in corruption....if there is honesty in the words of people who do akashwani, then they should respond as to how corruption developed under Congress in Jharkhand," Modi said without naming Gandhi.

He said Congress leaders were doing the same today.

Attacking Congress, Modi said the ruling party at the Centre has become a "liability" and a "crisis" for the country as it has lost connection with the masses.

"Congress party, its governments and its leaders cannot listen to the voices of the people....People today want development, not division, they want opportunity, not political opportunism, they want security, not poison of communalism," he said.

Attacking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue of inflation, the Gujarat Chief Minister said despite holding a meeting of Chief Ministers on price rise three years ago, the government has so far failed to take any steps in that regard.

He claimed that he was made a head of a committee to recommend steps to curb price rise.

"There were two other CMs from UPA and Congress-ruled states. We gave 62 actionable points and recommended 20 initiatives. The PM said we did a good job. But two-and-a-half years have lapsed and no action has been taken. The central government has been paralysed," Modi said.

Ramdev to go on door-to-door campaign for Narendra Modi

TNN | Bangalore | Dec 29, 2013:: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday said he will organize a door-to-door campaign—Vote for Modi—in the run up to the 2014 polls.

Ramdev, who was speaking at the Press Club, came down heavily on the Nehru family and the Congress. "Corruption exists in all parties. But politicians like Modi, Mamata Banerjee and Naveen Patnaik are not corrupt. The difference between the Congress and the BJP is that even the top leaders of the former are corrupt," he said.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi as a 'baccha', he said Modi is like the Himalayas and Rahul is too small. "Rahul has become a zero from hero. He hasn't done anything in the past 10 years, what will he do now," he said. He said he hopes to get answers from Modi on January 5 regarding problems faced by the common man in the fields of agriculture, education and health.

The yoga guru didn't even spare the new Delhi chief minister. "Arvind Kejriwal made three mistakes. He didn't stick to his promise of neither lending nor taking support from any party. He went on to take support from the Congress. He also passed comments against Anna Hazare," said Ramdev. "The day they file an FIR against Sheila Dikshit, the support will end," he said.

Baba said he doesn't believe that the Aam Aadmi Party can replicate its success in other states. "AAP can cause side effects but can't have a big impact," he said, assuring people that he will never enter active politics but only support politics that ensures a good democracy.

Narendra Modi, Arvind Kejriwal no match to Rahul Gandhi: Lalu Prasad

Muzaffarnagar | TOI | Dec 29, 2013:: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal are no match to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Lalu assessed that Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi is nothing in front of Rahul Gandhi.

"Rahul Gandhi is Rahul Gandhi. It is the media, which has created the hype about Kejriwal and Modi," claimed Lalu.

He also attacked the AAP saying, "In a month, people of Delhi will realise that they have made a mistake. People don't know what kind of people they are, especially the people living in slums don't know about their mistake.

"The dream Kejriwal has showed to the people is nothing but a big drama. He will set the worst record of governance in Delhi. He is no Raja Harishchandra," he added.

Lalu, who is on a visit to Muzaffarnagar relief camps and meet the families of riot victims, said, "Muzaffarnagar riot victims were in relief camps and during that time I was in jail. I got to know that many children have died due to the cold. So, I had decided that I would definitely visit the relief camps and meet the families staying there."

Prasad, whose party is expected to have an alliance with the Congress for the next Lok Sabha polls, came in Muzaffarnagar Sunday morning.

His visit is being coordinated by Rajya Sabha member Mohammed Adeeb. Adeeb was made the member of the upper house with the support of the Samajwadi Party and the Congress.

Prasad is expected to visit half a dozen relief camps inhabited by members of the Muslim community.

Prasad is considered a popular leader among the community and his party RJD had been in power in Bihar for 15 years largely on the basis of MY (Muslim-Yadav) combination.

Prasad, who had arrested BJP leader L K Advani during the Ram Janambhoomi movement in the 1990s, has been projecting himself to be a true secular and talking about playing a larger role in halting the march of Narendra Modi-led BJP.

Lalu's visit comes a week after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi made an unannounced visit to to the riot-hit areas of Muzaffarnagar district and relief camps to meet the affected people from both the Muslim and Hindu communities.

Satyameva Jayate. Truth of Gujarat Riot, 2002 and Narendra Modi.

Full text of Narendra Modi's blog on riots issue
27 Dec 2013, 1713 hrs IST

For the first time in 10 years, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi breaks his silence on the 2002 riots in a 1000 words blog. Modi says he was shaken to the core after the riots and that for years, he has been attacked leaving no stone unturned. In his hard hitting statement, Modi says that those who derive satisfaction will not stop their tirade against him, but has urged them to not see the verdict as a personal victory. He says 'grief', 'sadness', 'misery', 'pain', 'anguish', 'agony' would not capture the absolute emptiness one felt on witnessing such inhumanity. Through his blog, Modi has tried to put closure on the 2002 riots issue. Congress says Modi's statement shows no regret and that he is escaping responsibility.

Read the full text of Narendra Modi's blog:

Dear sisters and brothers,
The law of nature is that Truth alone triumphs - Satyameva Jayate. Our judiciary having spoken, I felt it important to share my inner thoughts and feelings with the nation at large.
The end brings back memories of the beginning. The devastating earthquake of 2001 had plunged Gujarat into the gloom of death, destruction and sheer helplessness. Hundreds of lives were lost. Lakhs were rendered homeless. Entire livelihoods were destroyed. In such traumatic times of unimaginable suffering, I was given the responsibility to soothe and rebuild. And we had whole heartedly plunged ourselves into the challenge at hand.

Within a mere five months however, the mindless violence of 2002 had dealt us another unexpected blow. Innocents were killed. Families rendered helpless. Property built through years of toil destroyed. Still struggling to get back on its feet from the natural devastation, this was a crippling blow to an already shattered and hurting Gujarat.

I was shaken to the core. 'grief', 'sadness', 'misery', 'pain', 'anguish', 'agony' - mere words could not capture the absolute emptiness one felt on witnessing such inhumanity.

On one side was the pain of the victims of the earthquake, and on the other the pain of the victims of the riots. In decisively confronting this great turmoil, I had to single-mindedly focus all the strength given to me by the almighty, on the task of peace, justice and rehabilitation; burying the pain and agony I was personally wracked with.

During those challenging times, I often recollected the wisdom in our scriptures; explaining how those seating in positions of power did not have the right to share their own pain and anguish. They had to suffer it in solitude. I lived through the same, experiencing this anguish in searingly sharp intensity. In fact, whenever I remember those agonizing days, I have only one earnest prayer to god. That never again should such cruelly unfortunate days come in the lives of any other person, society, state or nation.

This is the first time I am sharing the harrowing ordeal I had gone through in those days at a personal level.

However, it was from these very built up emotions that I had appealed to the people of Gujarat on the day of the Godhra train burning itself; fervently urging for peace and restraint to ensure lives of innocents were not put at risk. I had repeatedly reiterated the same principles in my daily interactions with the media in those fateful days of February-March 2002 as well; publically underlining the political will as well as moral responsibility of the government to ensure peace, deliver justice and punish all guilty of violence. You will also find these deep emotions in my recent words at my Sadbhavana fasts, where I had emphasized how such deplorable incidents did not behove a civilized society and had pained me deeply.

In fact, my emphasis has always been on developing and emphasizing a spirit of unity; with the now widely used concept of 'my 5 crore Gujarati brothers and sisters' having crystallised right at the beginning of my tenure as CM itself from this very space.

However, as if all the suffering was not enough, I was also accused of the death and misery of my own loved ones, my Gujarati brothers and sisters. Can you imagine the inner turmoil and shock of being blamed for the very events that have shattered you!

For so many years, they incessantly kept up their attack, leaving no stone unturned. What pained even more was that in their overzealousness to hit at me for their narrow personal and political ends, they ended up maligning my entire state and country. This heartlessly kept reopening the wounds that we were sincerely trying to heal. It ironically also delayed the very justice that these people claimed to be fighting for. May be they did not realize how much suffering they were adding to an already pained people.

Gujarat however had decided its own path. We chose peace over violence. We chose unity over divisiveness. We chose goodwill over hatred. This was not easy, but we were determined to commit for the long haul. From a life of daily uncertainty and fear; my Gujarat transformed into one of Shanti, Ekta and Sadbhavana. I stand a satisfied and reassured man today. And for this, I credit each and every Gujarati.

The Gujarat Government had responded to the violence more swiftly and decisively than ever done before in any previous riots in the country. Yesterday's judgement culminated a process of unprecedented scrutiny closely monitored by the highest court of the land, the Honourable Supreme Court of India. Gujarat's 12 years of trial by the fire have finally drawn to an end. I feel liberated and at peace.

I am truly grateful to all those who stood by me in these trying times; seeing through the facade of lies and deceit. With this cloud of misinformation firmly dispelled, I will now also hope that the many others out there trying to understand and connect with the real Narendra Modi would feel more empowered to do so.

Those who derive satisfaction by perpetuating pain in others will probably not stop their tirade against me. I do not expect them to. But, I pray in all humility, that they at least now stop irresponsibly maligning the 6 crore people of Gujarat.

Emerging from this journey of pain and agony; I pray to God that no bitterness seeps into my heart. I sincerely do not see this judgement as a personal victory or defeat, and urge all - my friends and especially my opponents - to not do so as well. I was driven by this same principle at the time of the Honourable Supreme Court's 2011 judgement on this matter. I fasted 37 days for Sadbhavana, choosing to translate the positive judgement into constructive action, reinforcing Unity and Sadbhavana in society at large.

I am deeply convinced that the future of any society, state or country lies in harmony. This is the only foundation on which progress and prosperity can be built. Therefore, I urge one and all to join hands in working towards the same, ensuring smiles on each and every face.

Once again, Satyameva Jayate!

"Ensure 1st place where you were in second position". Modi Formula to get 272+ in 2014 parliamentary election.

Narendra Modi's formula for BJP to win back Lok Sabha seats from Congress

PTI | NEW DELHI |DEC 24, 2013:: Narendra Modi today asked BJP to specially focus on those Lok Sabha constituencies where its candidates stood second behind Congress in the last elections and encash on the strong anti-incumbency against the ruling party to meet is ambitious target of securing majority.

Addressing BJP Chief Ministers, central office-bearers and state unit presidents here, Modi shared some interesting statistics to drive home his point.

"Modi said that in the last Lok Sabha elections, Congress had won 206 seats while BJP won 116. In most of the constituencies where Congress was the winner, BJP had come second. The total vote difference in these seats between Congress and BJP is only 89 lakh. But in the last five years, 12 lakh new voters have been added," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters.

BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate claimed these young new voters are attracted to the main opposition and they should be further courted by the party.

While BJP will peg its election campaign around its PM candidate and have "Modi for PM" as its slogan, it is also using the methods adopted by other parties to win votes.

"One vote, one note" is the mantra through which BJP aims to collect funds for the party. However, the range has been fixed between Rs 10 to Rs 1,000 and BJP will reach out to 10 crore families for this purpose.

Asked if this idea is inspired by AAP which had engaged in a similar exercise, Javadekar said "the cue has been taken from 1977 onwards. We have always asked for funds and votes both. Our party runs with the funds from the people."

BJP was in denial mode about AAP being a threat in the Lok Sabha polls and said this issue was not even discussed.

"People clearly said in the Delhi elections that in the minor election they are voting for AAP while in the major one they will vote for Modi," Javadekar said.

Rousing nationalist sentiments by invoking and appropriating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and other such figures will also be high on BJP's agenda. The statue of unity will be a rallying point in the campaign as farmers and workers will be asked to chip in with iron and soil for the project. [Courtesy: PTI | ET].

Modi is more the Modi and the Modi-fying symbol of India.

A rejoinder to the Anti Modi article in Economist Newspaper

Dr Mrs Hilda Raja| Chennai | Dec 25, 2013:: The Indian Express of Dec 20th carried an article from the Economist on page(9) on Modi.-titled Narendra Modi –“A man of some of the people-A populist with a nasty past and a decent economic record wants to run India”. (Link given ).

I think the author used his colored spectacles and wrote that article. It was not only biased but very crude. The analysis was meant only to show Modi in a bad light. What is the ‘nasty past’ of Modi? Going through the article which is so prejudicial even I was unable to detect the ‘nasty past’ of Modi Let me assure the author that Modi is not a man of some people but a man of most of the people.

The author must be a sycophant from the court of the ‘prince’ and that explains why even the comparisons are so skewed. The caption that ‘despite receiving little schooling and not being of a high caste Mode rose…..This under the file picture on the same page says it all. So the author has exposed his bias. The very fact he has mentioned of schooling and caste bringing in the social yard sticks by which he has measured Modi. We have had great politicians who had hardly passed the 5th standard and yet they made good politicians. On the other hand we have an economist of a PM who has sent the country down the drain. We have Mrs Sonia Gandhi with not much schooling and still managed to reign as Empress of India and dictate to the economist PM-who through her NAC runs the country. How is Modi less schooled than Mrs Sonia Gandhi? Talking about caste what caste does Sonia and Rahul Gandhi belong to?

The author has demeaned himself by even commenting “At rallies Mr Modi, who looks like a barrel -chested cross between Father Christmas and a professional wrestler” What if one has to say that the Prime Minister looks like a fox and functions as a robot. Does it read well? Rahul Gandhi looks like he is lost in wonderland and needs to read Alice in Wonderland .I am just putting this to show how irrelevant these are to the main issue. Yes, Narendra Modi is the Prime ministerial candidate and that has sent the jitters down the spine of the Congress and its sycophants .The author does not see how the country has suffered from the Congress’ actions and inactions. How the people have become servile and pushed to a corner. How after 57 years of its ruling the country the nation is more backward than it was formerly. How starvation and pauperized the people are. How the corruption has shaken the very fabric of the government. Right from the top down to the bottom it is a corrupt government that we have.

Now comes the relevance of Modi-a strong no nonsense leader with strong leadership qualities is what the nation needs. How can any nation become strong when it is steeped in corruption? It is not as though corruption is in small areas. It is not only massive but wide spread. Every single neta is corrupt. But one cannot point a finger on this score against Modi. For example, Modi takes a salary of Rs 12553 and manages with three personal staff. While the average salary of a CM is 5 lakhs and a personal staff up to 22 people.

When it comes to Mrs Sonia Gandhi)In her last affidavit she had mentioned that she has an ancestral house in Italy –as the only immovable asset .She also mentioned that she borrowed money from her daughter. In the recent affidavit her net worth has been calculated to 2 billion, making her richer than Queen Elizabeth, the Sultan of Omar, the Prince of Monaco and the Sheikh of Kuwait(IE Dec3rd )This goes to prove the quantum of corruption and the mother head of it all. Everyone knows how Mrs Sonia Gandhi came to India and with what. What were her assets and what was her qualification. How has she acquired such wealth? Does she not owe the people of India an explanation? If Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has amassed such wealth what about others? Will she be able to accuse others? Will she be able to stem corruption? Can a dirty Hand clean the nation’s financial sheet? What if Modi has amassed even a fraction of the assets which today is attributed to Mrs Sonia Gandhi? How will the political parties and the media react?

We have a PM who abets corruption. There is complete paralysis of the government both at policy level and at the governance level. There is a dual power centre-I am sorry- there is only one power centre and that is an extra constitutional one that revolves round Mrs Sonia Gandhi-and the PM is just a puppet. It is from this background and this ‘inner circle’ that Rahul Gandhi comes out and is projected as the Prime Ministerial candidate.

He who never fails to talk of change must change first the very ascendancy of himself. Must start right at the top and not just talk of change. This is the backdrop in which Modi has to be seen and it must be understood that the people have got fed up of the Congress. The writing on the wall is clear.May be persons like the author and other sycophants are on denial mood that there is no anti-Congress wave. There is not only an anti Congress wave but also a pro Modi wave. And we have a powerful lobby trying to arrest his rise. This lobby certainly does not stand to gain and is not pro national. It wants the same old netas and the corrupt Congress to continue with of course some cosmetic changes.

The country has lost its vitality and is considered as a soft nation. The media is biased against Modi and hence harps on his ‘nasty past’ What is the nasty past may I ask? If the Congress which had imposed Emergency on this nation can continue, if the Congress party which had organized and engineered an  Sikh pogrom in the after math of Mrs Gandhi’s assassination is being absolved why should the Gujarat riots of 2002 be held against Modi? It makes no difference  if Amarya Sen thinks so…he is a sycophant of the Gandhis and his reasoning  has no logic because he says that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul were not in the government while the Sikh pogrom took place in 1984 while Modi was the CM during the Gujarat riots. For one thing how does it absolve Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul when the Congress party is the same and those who incited the people and led them to the Sikh shanties were all rewarded with ministerial berths, and when Rajiv Gandhi justified the pogrom. The same line -the same dynasty is ruling and wants to continue. This butchering of thousands of Sikhs is absolved but Modi is not-there is a difference between riots and pogrom. In the Gujarat riots Hindus were also killed. They may be fewer but this is not the first communal riot in Gujarat or in India and there has been riots in other parts of the country.Riots have been almost a feature of this nation because of the policies followed by the Congress and other political parties. So to hold the Gujarat riots as Modi’s ‘nasty past’ is absolutely off sync. And  Rahul Gandhi goes on reminding the people what his father did and what his grandmother did and what his great grand father did etc..The legacy baggage also contain the tens of  thousands of Sikh lives that were brutally butchered-the destruction of the houses, rape of Sikh girls arson and plunder.Legacy baggage cannot be sorted out at the discretion of Amartya Sen,and the Gandhis and the Congress party.

Modi has not divided the nation-Modi is not communal. It is the biased perception of the Congress and all other political parties-For example are the RJD, BSP, SP not communal? Yet has the Congress not allied with these? All the political parties thrive on communalizing the people on the basis of caste, region and religion. And to top it all the Congress’ appeasement policy is communal in its very inception, its operation and its goal. Why put the odium on Modi and call him communal and divisive?

It is a fact that Rahul Gandhi is not fit to lead the nation. He has a long way to go and must prove himself. Everything was given unto him. He did not earn anything through hard work. So one can only laugh when he talks of change. How did he become the Vice President of the Congress party? A democracy is not based on birth-a dynasty is a negation of democracy and reveals that we do not have true democracy. Simply because other netas  follow the same pattern does not make democracy vibrant. It seems that the politicians all want to follow the dynasty route-this because it is the easy route to mint money, no accountability and no work load, no prescribed norms, easy life. A look at the assets of all our netas will reveal this-the enormous assets for the past five years-their life style   substantiates this. And to cap all this there is no basic qualification called for!

To get back to the MODI –a man of some of the people…”the author has labored to show how his achievements are not flawless. For this he quotes Amartya Sen who says that the infant mortality rate of Gujarat is more then three times than of Kerala and the life expectancy ten years lower. I wonder why Amartya Sen picked up Kerala and did not compare these two indices with those of his own State West Bengal –or Orissa, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. One can juggle with statistics as Justice Sachar did in his famous survey.-this to suit one’s own hypothesis.

Coming to the recent scandal the author of the Economist has again played to the gallery:-regarding the accusation that Modi used intelligent officers to spy on a woman with whom ‘Modi was apparently besotted” is ample prove of the author’s prejudice and anti Modism. The article is not worth being published in the Indian Express. Finally I want to assert that there are writers who want the Congress dynasty to continue because it brings them gains. It is the vested interested of the media which assails Modi-especially the English media. The electronic media is no better. I wish and fervently hope that the media both print and electronic will play its unbiased positive role as the fourth estate and uphold itself as a pillar of true democracy and democratic values. Fifty Crore Movie on Narendra Modi starring by Paresh Rawal, Vivek Oberoi, Upananda Bharati and ...

Will Vivek Oberoi be the face of a young Narendra Modi?

First Post | Shillong | Dec 23, 2013:: Actor Vivek Oberoi has confirmed reports that he has been offered to essay the character of younger Narendra Modi in a US-based director's film.

According to reports, Vivek has been approached to portray the role of a young Modi who used to run a tea stall and also worked in the staff canteen of the Gujarat Road Transport Corporation, before he took a plunge into politics.

The 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' actor in the hill town to attend a youth summit, today said to a question, "Yes I have been offered to work on this film but I am yet to give my word."

The film is to be made by director Mitesh Patel. [ePTI]

Paresh Rawal likely to play Narendra Modi in Rs.50 crore movie

Devika Chaturvedi  | Ahmedabad | September 3, 2013 | Updated: Dec 23 2013.
Paresh Rawal, 63, the illustrious actor may play Narendra Modi on big screen, if things go as planned.

After Bhaag Milkha Bhaag biopic seems to be the flavour of the season in Bollywood, whether it's Priyanka Chopra playing Mary Kom or Ranbir Kapoor getting into the shoes of Kishore Kumar.

Clearly following suit is US based NRI filmmaker Mitesh Patel who is bowled over by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Currently in Gujarat to finalise the locations he says "after Sardar Patel, Modi is probably the only Gujarati who has the similar qualities of being a leader."

The Vadodara-born filmmaker is trying to cash on Modi's popularity and film's release may further help Modi reach out to a larger audience. Apparently when Patel went to seek permission from the CM, he gave a simple reply saying "okay" for the project.

And the first obvious choice for the role was Paresh Rawal who played Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 'Sardar', a 1993 biopic on the Iron Man of India. During the last election campaign Rawal was seen giving speech in support of Modi and also calls the CM a true 'visionary'.

On the similarities of the two leaders (Sardar Patel and Modi), Rawal says "both are straightforward, blunt in nature and visionaries. They are sons of their soil, robust yet simple". He believes playing Modi will be a defining moment for him as an actor, like it would be for the country, if Modi leads it. The film's director and cast are yet to be locked.

However, writer Mihir Bhuta, and Kishore Makwana, who penned a book titled "Samaajik Samrasta" based on Modi's speeches and writings, are helping to put the film together. Mitesh Patel's Rs.50-crore movie, which is likely to hit theatres in 2014, is being planned as a biopic tracking Modi's life from the time he used to serve tea at bus stops in Gujarat to becoming the most talked about political leaders of the current times.

Shooting for the film will begin in November this year and it is due to release sometime in 2014.

Mumbai rally: Divide and rule policy specialty of Congress, says Modi
Express News Service | New Delhi | Dec 22, 2013:: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today launched a scathing attack on Congress, saying those immersed in corruption are now giving "sermons" against it.

"I heard the speech of a big Congress leader yesterday. He was speaking against corruption. See their daring. No one else can dare do this. These people are so immersed in corruption. Despite this, they make innocent face and speak against corruption," Modi said at a huge public rally here.

"The Adarsh commission report has indicted ministers. On one hand, Maharashtra government decides to save the corrupt and on the other, a Congress leader is giving sermons in Delhi," he said in an apparent reference to Rahul Gandhi.

"Congress speaks one thing and does another," he said.

"Whether Congress leaders are in government or not, all things are done as per their directives. But the same people, when they make a speech, one feels as if they are speaking on behalf of some other government, for some other country," he said.

"Congress is involved in divide and rule for vote bank politics. This has been their speciality. They learnt this from British," Modi said.

"While Sardar Patel united India, Congress pitted brother against brother and created states on linguistic basis," he said.

"The problems we face won't be solved till we free India from vote bank politics and get it on path of development politics," he stressed.

The reason for the problems the country faces is not our history or geography but Congress-ruled governments, he said.

"The voice of 'Congress-free India' should go out from Mumbai, which first gave the call of 'Quit India' against British rule," the Gujarat Chief Minister said.

"I wish that in 2014 elections, votes should be sought for the country and not in the name of party. We want to say, "Vote for India", to free the country of dynastic rule, corruption, inflation, bad governance and to maintain unity of the country," he said.

Mumbai: Seven layers of security for Narendra Modi during Sunday's rally

PTI | Mumbai | Dec 21, 2013:: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who will address a rally here tomorrow, will be provided seven layers of security, Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said today.

Terming the security arrangements made for Mr Modi as "fool-proof", Mr Singh told reporters that about 3,000 policemen have been deployed in and around the rally venue-MMRDA grounds near the suburban Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).

"Since Modi's threat perception has been classified as very high, he will be given seven layers of security. The Anti-Terrorism Cell has been activated. We are also checking on those who arrived in Mumbai over the last one month and continue to stay here," the city police chief said.

In addition to this, 'nakabandi' operations would be conducted on the roads around the venue.

According to Mr Singh, the security mechanism deployed is such that each person would be checked at least twice before he enters the venue.

"Mumbai police have also taken note of the threat from suicide bombers. Therefore, Quick Response Team (QRT) has been deployed and bomb disposal squads will work round the clock," Mr Singh said.

According to sources, as per the arrangements twenty people can be subjected to security checks simultaneously. Besides the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, other senior BJP leaders who would address the rally include, party chief Rajnath Singh, Maharashtra BJP in-charge Rajiv Pratap Rudy, senior leader Gopinath Munde, besides Nitin Gadkari and others.

BJP takes back invite to US to attend Narendra Modi's rally tomorrow

PTI | New Delhi | Dec 21, 2013:: Angered by the treatment meted out to Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade in New York, BJP today rescinded its invitation to the US Consulate in Mumbai to attend Narendra Modi's rally in Mumbai tomorrow.

BJP General Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy told PTI that his party had sent invitations to 141 consulates of various countries, including the US, for Modi's rally.

"These general invitations were sent to the consulates through e-mail by the Maharashtra unit of BJP with no specific persuasion to the American consulate to attend. We have now categorically rescinded our invitation to the US Consulate to attend this rally in the backdrop of what happened to Khobragade," Rudy said.

"We absolutely do not desire that the US should be coming to this rally," he added.

Pakistan Consulate officials were not invited to the rally.

Rudy said consulates of Russia, Australia, Zambia, Rawanda and several other countries have already sent their confirmations about attending the rally.

BJP had earlier invited officials from Indian missions of various countries to a rally in the national capital before the Delhi elections.

Khobragade was arrested in New York last week on the charge of visa fraud and subjected to strip search.

BJP has been unhappy with the US decision not to extend a visa to Modi due to his alleged involvement in the Gujarat riots of 2002. Its leaders had raised this issue on several occasions in the past and insisted an elected leader like Modi cannot be denied a visa when no charges have been proved against him.

Narendra Modi says people of Uttar Pradesh can usher in 'Ram Rajya'

PTI | Varanasi | Dec 20 2013:: Narendra Modi, who had consciously avoided reference to the Ram Temple issue in his earlier public meetings in Uttar Pradesh, on Friday appeared to be making a veiled reference to it by speaking of bringing in 'Ram rajya'.

Addressing a public meeting in the temple town of the state, which sends the largest number of 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha, the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate said if the people want they can see the return of 'Ram rajya' which started from this land by voting for the right party.

"I have faith in the people of Uttar Pradesh. Your ancestors had established Ram rajya. Had the people not been empowered, there would never have been Ram rajya here. The state has all that is needed for Ram rajya. The strength, tradition and will needed for establishing Ram rajya is there in you," Modi said.

"If still there are problems here it is because you have not chosen the right government. I have full faith that the day you do so, this (Ram rajya) can become a reality," he added.

Modi raised emotive issues, including the cleaning of the holy Ganga -- referring to the river as "maa", creating employment for locals involved in the handloom sector, farmer issues and employment opportunities for the youth and the poor.

He said his government in Gujarat had cleaned up the Sabarmati river, which used to be highly polluted a decade back, with the clean water of Narmada and asked why the same could not be done with river Ganga.

Modi also hit out at Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family, blaming them for poverty, unemployment and corruption plaguing the country.

Hitting back at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over his charge that some parties make promises that lie outside the realm of possibility, Modi said he does not make empty promises and the BJP is going to the people with firmly grounded intentions.

Earlier, he paid obeisance at Sankatmochan and Vishwanath temples.
